Licenses

Open-source licensing for Astra Browser and related materials.

Last updated: August 2026

01

Astra Browser

Astra Browser is free and open-source software distributed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL-2.0). You may use, modify, and redistribute it in accordance with that license. The full license text is available in the repository.

02

Firefox and Gecko

Astra is built on Firefox technology and the Gecko engine. Mozilla’s code and trademarks are subject to their own licenses and policies. Astra is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mozilla.

03

Third-party components

Like other browsers, Astra includes open-source libraries and upstream components. Their licenses are bundled with the source tree. If you redistribute Astra or build from source, review those notices alongside the main LICENSE file.

04

Website and mods

Content on astra-browser.app (including downloadable mods hosted here) is provided for use with Astra. Mod files are static assets downloaded to your device — the site itself does not run analytics or tracking scripts.

Read the full MPL-2.0 license text on GitHub or browse the astradesktop repository for source and bundled third-party notices.
